The Associate; A Review By Tantalos

The Associate By John Grisham

A gripping story that tells  of a man stepping from the threshold of youth into adulthood. It was an exciting read, seeing how the protagonist tried to escape the horror of his fate and the mess he created with his friends in college. There were mild twists in the plot, enough to keep you riveted to a book, but not enough to cause a tumor in your brain. The backdrop of the story takes place in New York, with a very Lawyer-ish theme going on in the story. The real pull, for me, to this book was the realness of the characters. How, in such an absurd and larger-than-life plot-line, every character held true to nature, making not the story believable, but the characters so much more real.

It’s been too long since I’ve been mesmerized by a story that isn’t about magic, goblins or dragons.

Very skillfully written and with a few sarcastic giggles thrown in for good measure, The Associate is definitely one hell of a read. John Grisham once again enchanted me with his ink and paper.
