Just went down to MPH at Raffles City Shopping Centre to shop for books as they are currently having a pre-renovation sale.
Bought The Spiderwick Chronicles. All 5 of them for a measly $15. And Ptolemy’s Gate [it's a silent 'P', if you don know how to pronounce Ptolemy] was a cheap cheap $12 for a hardcover. In fact, the Spiderwick set are all in hardcover. And last but not least, Stardust paperback at $6.
Stardust took me close to an hour to hunt down till I finally saw it in a strangers basket and asked him where he got that book. I’ll have to admit that I was tempted to just snatch it away from his basket when he wasn’t looking. But my moral values prevailed. Huh. Something must have stuck from my teacher’s teachings. And even after the kind gesture of he dashing youg man, it still took me about 15mins to finally locate that book at a particularly obscure corner.
The whole plae is in a mess. Books of every genre were strewn all over the place. People crawling and cavorting eveywhere. My lusty right elbow has brushed the bosoms of at least three ladies. Oops. And some gentleman too. I wonder if the chaos was intentional or caused by the hordes of meatsack cluttered everywhere.
A word of advice, if you want to go down to grab a steal, and you should (promotion ends at 28th Feb), allocate a couple of hours to browse each section and enjoy the wonders of retail therapy. And bring a hefty sum of cash to change that steal into a Grand Theft Auto. And if you are trying to find a particular item, well, good luck!!! You’ll need it.
All in all, I’m just happy with my haul for the day. $33 for 7 books. This is nuts!!! And I’m especially happy to find Stardust.
